Rick Muzzy Morning Show Host Muzzy in the Morning on 97.9 WSPT
They say if you are doing what you love it is not like work at all and I have been fortunate to do that all my adult life. Brought up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame City Canton, Ohio Rick Muzzy is a second generation broadcaster. He had a great broadcasting mentor in his father, who was the Dean of Ohio Sportscasters and Master of Ceremonies for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies for its first twenty-five years where many of our Packers are honored.
I knew this is what I wanted to do when at an early age I would hang out at my father’s radio station after ball games and go through the music library searching for great hits like we play today on 97.9 WSPT FM.
After experience with Ohio radio in suburban Cleveland, a brief stint in television working for one of the nation’s pioneer television broadcasters in Toledo, then returning to radio in the same city and the on to the Dayton metro to a station that is today part of Muzzy Broadcasting. From Dayton Rick next went east to New England to work for one of America’s most respected broadcast groups in Worcester and Boston and then on to Colorado Springs before settling down in Wisconsin to start Muzzy Broadcasting in 1988.
Rick started out in broadcasting as a DJ, and over the years experienced all the facets of radio before coming to Wisconsin to own his own his own broadcast group with stations today in Wisconsin and Ohio. Rick is proud he is a broadcaster and a local owner who believes in boosting our local communities and enjoys today playing the greatest hits ever made by some of his favorite artists – The Beatles, Billy Joel, Chicago, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Hall and Oates, Journey, Elton John, the Eagles, the Beach Boys and the Bee Gees and so many more on his morning show “Muzzy in the Morning”. I have been so lucky to meet in person many of the artists we play including the Beach Boys, Frankie Valli, BJ Thomas, Glen Campbell, Bruce Hornsby, Kenny Loggins, CCR, Grand Funk Railroad and many more. Besides broadcasting Rick has a passion for family, friends, the outdoors and a game they call golf.
